Our Story
In the heart of the Capital City, Pretoria, a beloved institution is reopening its doors, tantalizing taste buds and transporting customers to the sun-kissed hills of Sicily.
My Cousin Vinnie, a panini bar and deli, is back after a 20-year hiatus. Owner Damiano had taken a break to refine family recipes, passed down from his cousin Vincenzo (belovedly called Vinnie), a true Sicilian, and is ready to invite patrons to enjoy fresh flavours and taste sensations. As we like to say at My cousin Vinnie "Tutto finisce a tarallucci e vino" (everything ends with biscuits and wine) which means it will all work out in the end.
We are back, we are better and we are ready to delight! At my cousin Vinnie we believe in authenticity and infusing Vinnie's secret ingredient in every dish -Love. Each dish is crafted with care, just as Vinnie had taught Damiano. The menu boasts classic Sicilian flavors named in honor of famous historical and present day Sicilians.
As the doors swing open, nostalgia meets innovation. My Cousin Vinnie is home, serving up authentic Sicilian cuisine with a modern twist. Our moto - Essere una buona forchetta (to be a good fork)! Which means - Have a good appetite!
Vinnie's story:
Damiano's wife Chantal, Nonna Diana and Vincenzo (Vinnie)
Vinnie grew up in Sicily, surrounded by rich culinary traditions. His nonna taught him classic recipes, and he experimented with local ingredients. Vinnie's passion for food brought people together, and his table became a gathering place.
As a young man, Vinnie shared his love of food with Damiano, teaching him family recipes. Years later, Damiano opened My Cousin Vinnie, honoring Vinnie's legacy.
Vinnie's wisdom is captured in one phrase: Essere come il prezzemolo (to be like parsley) which means always turn up everywhere!
